Winter riding is fun!

What is MC Kramppi?

MC Kramppi is a mountain bike team from Lahti, Finland. The main purpose of MC Kramppi is to have fun in the woods. The most important thing is not to ride a bike as much as possible - it is more important to enjoy and to have cramps. Actually kramppi means cramp in finnish. We don't measure distance in kilometres - we use hours as a standard measurement unit.

Events/current news:

bulletThe team rides start every saturday on 10 a.m. from the Siiri Rantanen statue next to the Lahti sport stadium. Everybody is welcome to join in. It is better to make sure we start from that place at that time. Contact the team to make sure you are at the right place at the right time.

How it all started?

During spring 2000 I was entering us into the Tahko 120MTB event and I was supposed to fill in the name of the team. I called to Pekka immediately and after some brainstorming we came up with now already a legendary name MC Kramppi. The next one to join the band was Heikki. All of us had been friends since our motocross days back in the eighties. After that more and more people have joined us and now we are here. - Oz

How to join MC Kramppi?

This is a question that we hear a lot. It ain't that easy. To became a newbie, not to mention a fulltime-member, requires a long and sometimes painful time as a prospect. And even though you could reach some kind of a status, there's no reason to become proud. The membership requires constant efforts - you have to ride with the team regularly and you have to participate in the most important events like the annual Tahko 120MTB. And of course you have to know how to put MC Kramppi stickers the right way. Anyway, it's always worth to try to join MC Kramppi. And everybody is welcome to the team rides. - Oz
